Connor McDavid taunted reporters after winning game #5

Right now, the Edmonton Oilers have the wind in their sails in this (interminable) Stanley Cup Final. The club is still facing elimination, but it’s on the strength of two consecutive wins and a return home that they’ll be able to force a game #7.

Quietly, the pressure begins to build on the Panthers’ shoulders as they fail to shake off the Oilers.

And clearly, the Oilers guys are starting to feel confident, to the point where they’re having a bit of fun with the journalists.

After Game 5, Connor McDavid ran into a few reporters on his way out of the arena… and taunted them a bit:

Are you excited about your trip? We’re just here to show you around. – Connor McDavid

Our colleagues at HabsolumentFan also had a word to say.

We know that the flight from Edmonton to Sunrise is quite long. We’re talking several hours… and not just when the weather complicates things.

Clearly, it’s not a particularly pleasant flight… except for the Oilers at the moment, so McDavid took the liberty of teasing the journalists (who can’t wait for it to be over).

The question now is whether McDavid will have the chance to taunt them again tomorrow night, when an Oilers victory (in front of their fans) in Game #6 will force everyone to take another interminable flight. Remember: this is the Stanley Cup Final with the greatest distance between the two arenas in NHL history.

And clearly, seeing the Oilers (or, at least, McDavid) so confident suggests that Alberta has a real chance of forcing another flight in Game #7.

And if that happens, I’d hate to be in the skates of a Panthers player…

Overtime

– Speaking of McDavid.

– What do you think?

– Nice moment.
