Conrad Murray has been released from prison.
The disgraced physician was sentenced to four years in jail for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson – who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 – but was allowed to walk free this morning (10.28.13) after spending less than two years behind bars because of good behavior.
The 60-year-old doctor was secretly released out of a back exit of the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles as it was believed there could be a ”safety issue” because a group of Jackson fans were camped outside the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles waiting for him.
Murray’s lawyer, Valerie Wass, told reporters outside the prison that her client was anxious to ”hug his family” and he was planning to get his medical licenses reinstated in California, Texas and Nevada so he can resume his medical career.
She said: ”He wants to take some time and see his family.
”Believe me; after you’ve been locked up in this place for two years, it’s a shock emotionally and physically.”
Murray is believed to have started writing an autobiography while he was locked up and he is hopeful that he can interest a publisher with it because it includes the story of the King of Pop’s death and blames other people for his shock death.
A source told TMZ: ”During his time in jail, Murray penned a large portion of a book about his life and his time with Michael Jackson.”
The cardiologist – who was hired as Jackson’s personal doctor as he prepared for his comeback ‘This Is It’ concert residency at The O2 arena in London – stated he only provided the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker with nightly infusions of the Propofol to treat his insomnia and insisted Jackson administered the fatal dose of the anesthetic to himself on the night of his death.
But a jury concluded after a two-month trial that Murray’s negligence led to his death and found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
