Contract extension for Jake Evans: Renaud Lavoie still believes in it

The Canadian will not have managed to agree with Jake Evans this week. Does this mean he’s leaving?
It remains to be seen.
The one who has only one goal in his last 23 games has not been contributing offensively lately, but defensively, I have nothing to say. As the days go by, the chances of him leaving the city are increasing. However, Renaud Lavoie still believes in a contract extension. This is what he mentioned during the pre-game show on TVA Sports.
In recent days, Tony Marinaro provided details on Evans’ demands and according to him, the center is asking for five years/four million dollars per season. Looking at the comparisons across the NHL (Jean-Gabriel Pageau $5M, Alex Kerfoot $3.5M, and Dakota Joshua $3.25M), it feels like four million is not necessarily too much to ask for.
But in the latest news, the two camps are very far from an agreement.
The chances of seeing him being traded are even greater → https://t.co/fol1G9wv5n

Maybe the negotiations will be more intense after the trade deadline (March 7). Kent Hughes may just be waiting to see what other teams could offer for his fourth-line player.
Still during the pre-game show on TVA Sports, Maxim Lapierre brought up a good point about Evans. The former CH player, who wants to keep him, said that all teams want a player like the 71 in their team. So, why not keep him and not look for another one for four or five years?
The entire panel of the show wants to keep Evans in the city. The entire panel, except for Félix Séguin, who, after his argument, mentioned that he would focus on describing the game, because “that’s what he does best”.
Will you give Jake what he wants, considering that the salary cap will increase by several million dollars in the coming years?
