Cycling tours in Europe

The Channel Tour’s 1,000 kilometers Franco-British cycling network due for completion in 2013.

A vast cycling network due for completion in 2013, in collaboration with local ferries, will allow tourists to travel by bicycle across the English Channel, reports Routard.

As part of a sustainable tourism development strategy and to satisfy the increasing demand for cycle tourism and its associated needs, CYCLE is a Franco-British project of cooperation with 15 partners and 10 associated partners.

Led by the Brittany Regional Tourism Board, this ambitious partnership plans to connect a network of cycling trails linking the northwest of France with the southwest of England, and to run a joint marketing strategy to promote the Channel region as a European cycling destination.

Composed of 1,000 kilometers of bike paths and greenways, it will follow the same marking on both sides of the Channel. Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries, major project partners, will transport cyclists across the Channel, providing easy access to the cycling paths on each side of the channel.
