Cyprus and Greece voted best beaches in Europe

TripAdvisor names Ayia Napa in Cyprus as Europe’s best beach.

The best beaches in Europe are in Cyprus and Greece, according to TripAdvisor‘s 2011 Travelers’ Choice awards, reports Luxuo.

The resort town Ayia Napa in Cyprus took the top spot, for its combination of party atmosphere and family-friendly destination. While beach parties start in the afternoon and go all night, families can tour a medieval monastery, or charter a cruise on the dazzling blue water.

In second place was the small Greek island of Skiathos, which has over 60 beaches despite its tiny size. Cyprus’ coastal town of Protaras was back on the list at number three, and then it was back to Greece for the fourth spot, which went to the Greek island Mykonos.

Rounding out the top five was the small Turkish village of Oludeniz, known as one of the world’s best destinations for paragliding. Stunningly sapphire water turns seafoam green where it meets the white sand at the shore, giving the beaches a color palette that an artist would envy.
