Daniel Lanois cancels his Montreal show

A motorcycle accident forces the artist to cancel his Montreal Jazz Fest show.

Singer and musician Daniel Lanois was in an accident yesterday (June 8) while riding his motorcycle in Los Angeles. He won’t be able to perform July 2 at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.

He suffered multiple injuries and is currently resting in the intensive care unit of a L.A. hospital. The 58-year old artist’s life is not in danger but his body is pretty messed up. He suffered six cracked ribs, a broken pelvis and a punctured lung in the accident.

The show was supposed to take place on July 2 at Metropolis. It would have seen Lanois appearing with the Black Dub project which includes an array of talented musicians. He is recording an album with the group but that is now on hold. It will be completed when the artist recovers and his health permits.

Daniel Lanois shares the same agent as Neil Young. Lanois also produced Young’s next album.

As for fans who bought tickets in Montreal, they can get a refund for the cancelled show.
