Dark Desire for the Lotus Exige Scura

Scura signifies "dark" in Italian, and makes for an appropriate surname for the limited edition series of the Lotus Exige.

The name by Lotus and its Italian counterparts is well suited for the brand’s high-performer.

Under the front hood, we find the same engine as that found in the Exige Cup 260. Originating from Toyota, the 1.8-litre 4-cylinder comes equipped with a compressor that delivers 260 horsepower!

The sleek Scura version gets a black matte paint job, accented with a broad, shiny band, blade-like front, side air intakes, and a rear carbon spoiler, adding 10 kilos on the scale for a total weight of 925 kg.

With this weight-to-power ratio, the Exige Scura knocks out 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, and reaches 160 in less than 10 seconds, topping out at 245 km/h.

The interior comes with bucket seats and a carbon fibre central console.

Even though the Lotus Exige is one of the sharpest, most sporty autos in existence, the Ethel firm found it necessary to include adjustable dampers.

Presented at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Lotus Exige Scura comes in limited quantities; 35 to be exact, at under $95 000 CAD.
