Deep Purple to relaunch 4 live albums

Out-of-print 1970s live sets will find new life on four double albums.

British rock and heavy metal pioneers Deep Purple will be releasing four live double albums showcasing a series of four out-of-print concert performances from the 1970s, reports Gibson.

The albums are called Scandinavian Nights, In Concert 1970/1972, Live in London, and The Final Concerts, and feature an evolving line-up of musicians.

Original guitarist Ritchie Blackmore left the group in 1975 after he felt the band was heading in a soul funk musical direction that he didn’t care for.

The Final Concerts marks the end of the Blackmore era and that line-up’s final European tour. Live performances include classics like Burn, Space Truckin,’ and Smoke on the Water.

The four double-live CDs will be released next Tuesday, August 16.
