Bruce Cassidy is the latest NHL head coach to find himself out of a job. Here’s a list of his fellow coaches who are also looking for work and will be competing for available positions in Boston, Dallas, Detroit, Philadelphia, Vegas and Winnipeg.

Bruce Cassidy (Washington, Boston)

The Bruins surprised many by firing their head coach after a 107-point season. Boston has made the playoffs in each of its six seasons behind the bench including the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.

Barry Trotz (Nashville, Washington, Islanders)

Trotz's dismissal was another surprise in the field hockey world. A 2018 Stanley Cup winner with the Capitals, he'll be a prime candidate for any team aspiring to top honors.

John Tortorella (Tampa Bay, Rangers, Vancouver, Columbus)

He has had his share of success despite his controversial style. Tampa Bay's Stanley Cup winner in 2004 has also led the Blue Jackets to the playoffs four times in six seasons.

Jim Montgomery (Dallas)

He had lost his job with the Stars due to drinking problems. After going to therapy, he spent the last 2 seasons as an assistant coach with the Blues.

Peter DeBoer (Florida, New Jersey, San Jose and Vegas)

The Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in their history this season and it cost him his job. But with 15 seasons of experience, he should be back in the NHL soon.

Paul Maurice (Hartford, Carolina, Toronto and Winnipeg)

He left after 29 games last year in his 9th season at the helm of the Jets. If he's ready to get back behind the bench, several teams will give him a nod.

Claude Julien (Montreal, New Jersey and Boston)

His 2nd stint with the Canadiens ended after 18 games of the 2020-21 season, his 5th with Montreal. A Stanley Cup winner in 2011, his name comes up every time a position is available.

Alain Vigneault (Montreal, Vancouver, Rangers and Philadelphia)

After a tumultuous stint in Philadelphia, he is surely hoping for another opportunity with a stronger team. He led the Canucks (2011) and Rangers (2014) to the Stanley Cup Final.

Rick Tocchet (Tampa Bay, Arizona)

A highly respected former player in the field hockey world, he did a respectable job with a top team. His name is circulating in Philadelphia where he played 8 seasons.

Joel Quenneville (Saint Louis, Colorado, Chicago, Florida)

Despite all her success, the chances of seeing her in the NHL again are slim due to her role in the Kyle Beach case.

Mike Babcock (Anaheim, Detroit, Toronto)

Another one we probably shouldn't see behind an NHL bench again. He left Toronto amidst controversy following denunciations of his methods by several former players. But in the small world of field hockey... you never know.

Jeff Blashill (Detroit)

Under his leadership, the Red Wings have been shut out of the playoffs six times in seven years. Despite these failures, there are rumors that he is headed to Florida.

David Quinn (Rangers)

He had a lot of success with Boston University in the NCAA, was signed by the Rangers in 2018 and dismissed after 208 games. Will he get another chance?

Rick Bowness (Winnipeg, Boston, Ottawa, Islanders, Dallas)

He confirmed after the Stars were eliminated that he would not be returning to Dallas, but has yet to announce his retirement. With all his experience, he'll probably get some calls.

Guy Boucher (Tampa Bay, Ottawa)

Another one whose name is on everyone's lips as soon as a job opens up in the NHL. According to Pierre Lebrun, he will be interviewing with the Red Wings. Will he find his former GM in Detroit?

Patrick Roy (Colorado)

He's considering his future with the Remparts... will an NHL offer get him off the QMJHL buses and onto the Bettman airplanes?
