Did sobriety kill Amy Winehouse?

Sudden sobriety may have caused the late singer’s body to go into fatal shock.

While Amy Winehouse’s autopsy has failed to reveal the official cause of death, it’s been proposed that her decision to completely quit alcohol after years of abuse could have caused her body to go into fatal shock, according to the Daily Mirror.

Rumors and speculation have run rampant since the 27-year-old Grammy award-winning star was found dead in her London flat on July 23.

Her public struggles with both drugs and alcohol had many suspecting that Winehouse had succumbed to her addiction. Her father Mitch, however, was quick to deny the rumors and insists that the opposite is true.

"[Mitch] said doctors had told Amy to gradually reduce her intake of alcohol and to avoid bingeing at all costs," a source told the Daily Mirror.

"Amy told him she couldn’t do that. It was all or nothing and she gave up completely. Mitch said the shock of giving up, after everything she had been through over a bad few years, was just too much for her to take."

Police are now investigating the whereabouts of the Rehab singer between 8:00 pm last Friday night (July 22) and 4:00 pm the next day when she was discovered deceased by a security guard.

"There is a possibility she left her home at some point during the evening," said the source, "And some of her friends believe she may have headed out later."

Winehouse’s family is currently awaiting the results of toxicology tests that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
