Dior to announce Galliano’s replacement soon

French fashion house has been without a creative director since March.

Christian Dior is preparing to announce John Galliano’s successor as creative director of the haute couture French fashion house, reports Female First.

Acting creative director, Bill Gaytten, said the brand has had a difficult time since Galliano was abruptly dismissed in March for racist comments that were videotaped and then appeared on the Internet.

“It’s been a tough period, but what can I say? My lips are sealed, but all will be revealed," promised Gaytten.

For its most recent fall-winter collection, Dior moved away from Galliano’s ‘fantasy’ narrative, and returned to more classic lines.

“It’s definitely more about reality than fantasy. The fantasy narrative was very John,’ Gaytten said. “We’ve gone for classic Dior shapes, but contemporary.”

Alexander Wang is the most recent contender for the role of head designer after frontrunners Haiden Ackerman, Marc Jacobs and Riccardo Tisci have reportedly been ruled out.

A source close to Dior parent company LVMH, said: “For Dior, it’s a pretty tricky situation, as the three frontrunners really can’t take the job.

"Haider Ackermann is said to be ‘way too edgy’ for Dior; Marc Jacobs wanted the job a lot, but LVMH wants him to stick with Vuitton; and Riccardo Tisci simply refused, saying that he was feeling more than comfortable with the job at Givenchy. So nobody’s taking over so far.”
