Dita von Teese launches lingerie collection

Burlesque dancer unveils Von Follies vintage-style lingerie.

Early next year, American burlesque dancer Dita von Teese will launch her new collection of vintage-style lingerie, Von Follies, which includes touches of grosgrain and velvet ribbons, delicate eyelash lace, and control mesh that reflect her sultry 1950s glamour girl look.

A trained costume designer, the dancer explained Von Follies was inspired by her long-time love of lingerie and her own personal collection of vintage lingerie.

"There are so many vintage lingerie pieces I love that I haven’t been able to find in all my years of collecting. I wanted to design pieces that are tributes to my vintage obsessions, to make them beautiful and functional, while modernizing them for everyday wear."

With prices starting at $17, the range features ten collections that range from black lingerie sets to bold reds, nudes with black lace overlay, pale shades of satin, and an animal print.

Von Teese wanted to make her vintage-glam style available to women of all shapes and sizes, and selected bra styles will be available up to an E-cup and briefs up to size 20.

“It was very important to me to offer lingerie in a large range of sizes…that can make any woman feel sexy and glamorous, and I’m very proud that we have been able to do that, while keeping prices affordable," she noted.

The first pieces from the collection will be available at Target Australia stores and its website as of February 2012, with plans for a global launch later in the year.
