Doc Martens tries on heels

Iconic British footwear manufacturer unveils Zita collection.

British footwear brand Dr. Martens has unveiled a new ultra-feminine line for autumn-winter 2011, reports Relay.

Known for its unique air-cushioned sole, welted construction and yellow stitching, the iconic brand has branched out with floral versions, and recently decided to launch a new high-heel collection for women.

For the first time, Doc Martens will be available in high heels – giving the boots and shoes a sensual and feminine shape with a sensibility that appears to be Victorian-industrial revolution-meets-Internet.

The new Zita collection consist of shoes and boots with slender stacked high-heels, featuring laces or silver buckles, available in black and oxblood Packard leather and non-slip grooved sole.

The boots and shoes will be available in store for the upcoming fall-winter season, with prices ranging from $280 to $465.

Last year, Dr Martens celebrated its 50th anniversary, and to mark the event, the brand rereleased two of its most popular styles, the 1460 and 1461, available in black and cherry.

The iconic footwear was initially popular with letter carriers, police officers and factory workers. In the ‘70s, skinheads began wearing them, and by the 1980s, there were popular among punks, New Wave musicians, and other youth subcultures.

The popular footwear company has just launched ‘First and Forever Campaign’ asking customers to share memories about of their first pair of Docs. The fall-winter ad campaign starring Agyness Deyn and Ash Stymest, shot by Gavin Watson, will build on the ‘First and Forever’ theme with a series of ‘firsts’ set against British landscapes.
