Donna Karan updates 7 easy pieces for spring

New Casual Luxe Spring 2011 Collection

American designer Donna Karan has unveiled her new ‘Casual Luxe’ line of easy, yet luxurious pieces, reports, Relax News.

The latest update of her original ‘seven easy pieces’– a collection of mix-and-match items meant to make up an entire wardrobe – arrived shortly after the release of reduced collections Givenchy and Tim Hamilton.

In the 1980s, Karan became well-known for her ‘Essentials’ line, initially offering seven easy pieces which could all be mixed and matched, to create an entire wardrobe that goes from day to evening, week day to weekend, season to season.

A modern system of dressing, Karan’s concept of seven easy pieces incorporates a handful of interchangeable items that work together to create

"I’m designing for an international man and woman. A creative person who never knows where a day is going to take them," says Karan. "That’s why New York is on the label. It sets the pace, the attitude." Karan always insisted that she would only design clothes, like jersey dresses and opaque Lycra tights, that she would also wear herself.

Karan’s new collection includes stretch pants, stretch skirt, t-shirt, large sweater and several vests. The streamlined fashions are all made from luxurious materials designed to be layered for a more sophisticated look.

Priced from $295, the collection is now available online, but won’t arrive in stores until June 1.
