Doug Liman in talks for Splinter Cell starring Tom Hardy

Doug Liman is in talks to direct the movie version of video game ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell’, which stars Tom Hardy as Special Agent, Sam Fisher.

Doug Liman is in talks to direct ‘Splinter Cell’ starring Tom Hardy.

The filmmaker – who recently worked on ‘Edge Of Tomorrow’ – is in negotiations to helm the project which is a movie version of video game ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell’, according to reports.

Hardy is set for the lead role of Sam Fisher, a Special Agent in a fictional US Black Operatives team who battle against terrorists in the game’s storyline.

Basil Iwanyk and Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ Jean-Julien Baronnet will produce with Liman and Dave Bartis through Hypnotic.

Eric Singer – who wrote 2009 thriller ‘The International’, starring Clive Owen – is on board as screenwriter.

The first game was released in 2002, featuring a tie-in book. There have been six games. More than 23 million units of the game are thought to have been sold to date.

Hardy is set to hit the big screen later this year in ‘The Drop’ and ‘Child 44’ alongside Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman and Gary Oldman.
