Dr. Conrad Murray officially charged

Dr. Conrad Murray appears in a Los Angeles court to be formally charged.

Michael Jackson’s personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, was officially charged with involuntary manslaughter yesterday (February 8). People reports he stands accused of administering an overdose of Propofol to the King of Pop which resulted in his death.

According to the L.A. district attorney’s office, Murray “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson." The coroner ruled that Jackson died from a Propofol overdose last June.

Murray arrived at the courthouse to calls of ‘Murderer’. The 57-year old doctor denied any wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty.

Judge Keith Schwartz set Murray’s bail at $75,000 though the district attorney had asked for it to be set at $300,000.

Murray is allowed to continue practicing medicine but cannot possess or prescribe anaesthetics.

The doctor has to appear in court again on Friday (February 12) for the formal reading of the indictment. If he is found guilty, he faces up to four years in prison.
