Drake to receive songwriting award

Canadian rapper will receive prestigious Hal David Starlight Award.

Just 18 months after his arrival in the music industry, Canadian rapper Drake is set to receive the Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in June, reports Teen Music.

The Hal David Starlight Award is presented annually to a songwriter who has made a significant impact in the music industry through original songs.

Yesterday (March 24), Jimmy Webb of Songwriters Hall of Fame announced, "Drake shines as a talented songwriter with a unique vision."

Drake will join an impressive list of artists who have already won this award, including last year’s winner Taylor Swift, as well as Alicia Keys, John Legend and John Mayer, to name a few.
