Adam Sandler claims Drew Barrymore finds doing romantic scenes with him awkward.
The funnyman has teamed up with the actress for a third time in new comedy ‘Blended’, and joked how doing intimate scenes with his friend gets more difficult for her as time goes on.
He said: ”Absolutely, for Drew every time. It’s been awkward [since] when we were strangers for her. But I keep saying, ‘They paid you buddy, get in here.’ ”
The duo have previously appeared together in ‘The Wedding Singer’ and ’50 First Dates’ and Adam, 47, joked he gives her a few years off between movies.
He added to E! news: ”She wouldn’t want it every day, so I have to give her a pass every four or five years. And then I jump in and remind her of why she moved on.”
Meanwhile, Drew – who is married to Will Kopelman, with whom she has one-month-old daughter Frankie and 20-month-old daughter Olive – claims she’s the one that’s always bugging Adam to work with her.
She told the Huffington Post: ”I tend to be the one to nudge Adam. With ‘The Wedding Singer’, I was like, ‘We have to work together, we have to find something. I’ve been saying that you and I are cinematic soul mates,’ which probably sounded really crazy at the time because he didn’t know me.
”’50 First Dates’ was actually a different script. It was more of a drama … Then he did a lot of writing on it and we made it into more of a comedy, and it is what it is. With this one, I reached out to him and said, ‘Okay, I think it’s time again!’ And he was like, ‘Okay, I’ll go find something.’
”And then he called me months later and said he thought he’d found it.”
