Dublin Halloween Festival celebrates Dracula author

Birthplace of Bram Stoker honours author with Halloween weekend festival.

Over the Halloween weekend, a Halloween Horror Festival will be held in Dublin, birthplace of Dracula author, Bram Stoker, at Clontarf Castle in North Dublin, Ireland.

In preparation for the centenary of Irish author Bram Stoker, in April 2012, the Stoker Dracula Organisation has organized a Halloween Horror Festival.

The Irish author rose to fame with the publication of his novel Dracula in 1897, which is based on seven years of research he compiled on European folklore and stories of vampires.

The festival is offering a variety of activities for locals and tourists alike. A Ghost Bus and Historical Tour includes a visit to the ancient Clontarf Cemetery containing the ruins of the church where Stoker was baptized in 1847.

Three unique artistic competitions in Gothic Horror – photographic, literary and film will be held, along with screenings of Stoker/Dracula movies and documentaries.

Visitors will have access to the castle’s gothic library, with the featured event being the Monster Halloween Costume Ball.

Festivities are scheduled to run from October 29-31—so don’t forget to pack your fangs.
