Duchess Camilla honours Big Lunch award winners

Duchess Camilla honored several Big Lunch Community Award winners at a function at Clarence House yesterday along with ‘EastEnders’ star Barbara Windsor.

Britain’s Duchess of Cornwall honored communities around Britain at the Big Lunch Community Awards yesterday (23.04.13).

Duchess Camilla and ‘EastEnders’ actress Barbara Windsor awarded top volunteers from cities around Britain who have helped foster positive community relationships in their local areas through the Big Lunch Initiative.

The Big Lunch Initiative invites local people to come together to sit down to lunch in an annual event in order to raise community spirit and create friendships within their local vicinity.

Organizers for Big Lunch events in areas including Northamptonshire, Birmingham, South Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland were invited to Clarence House to be honored by the duchess and soap star.

Barbara – who is London Mayor Boris Johnson’s street party ambassador and judge for the Big Lunch Community Awards – praised the ”incredibly deserving” winning communities.

She said: ”It’s been a pleasure to be part of the Big Lunch Community Awards and it’s a great honor to be invited to Clarence House to meet these five, incredibly deserving, communities.”

Meanwhile, Camilla helped cut a celebratory cake for the winners.

The duchess is expected to attend a Big Lunch event when this year’s gathering takes place on June 2.
