Duchess Catherine biggest beauty influence

Britain’s Duchess Catherine has been named as the biggest influence on the nation’s beauty purchases following research carried out by the UK’s largest online beauty retailer feelunique.com.

Britain’s Duchess Catherine has been named as the biggest influence on the nation’s beauty purchases.

The pregnant royal – whose was known as Kate Middleton prior to her nuptials – beat off competition from Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Cara Delevingne and fellow pregnant star Kim Kardashian to top a poll following research carried out by the UK’s largest online beauty retailer feelunique.com.

Just under a third of those questioned (30 per cent) admitted they copy Catherine’s look, with Moss and Beckham behind the Duchess of Cambridge with 15 per cent and 12 per cent of Brits copying their styles respectively.

Siobhan McDermott, general manager at feelunique.com, said: ”We have seen first-hand the ‘Kate Effect’ on sales of beauty products. For example, two years ago blonde shades were more than twice as popular as brown tones.

”Immediately after the royal wedding we experienced a surge in brown shades and in particular, Kate’s signature Natural Dark Brown colour. It’s now our most popular shade and contributes to brown colours consistently outselling blondes two-to-one.”

Jennifer Aniston (eight per cent) overcame former love rival Angelina Jolie (five per cent), while reality TV star Millie Mackintosh – who is engaged to rapper Professor Green – and singer-and-actress Gwyneth Paltrow both creeped into the top 10 along with Olivia Palermo.

The top 10 celebrities that most influence the UK’s spend on beauty purchases are:

1. Kate Middleton – 30%

2. Kate Moss – 15%

3. Victoria Beckham – 12%

4. Cara Delevingne – 11%

6. Jennifer Aniston – 8%
