Duchess Catherine pulls out of Invictus Games appearance

Duchess Catherine pulled out of the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony last night and the athletic event today due to severe morning sickness.

Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge was forced to pull out of the Invictus Games’ opening ceremony last night (09.10.14) due to severe morning sickness.

The 32-year-old royal was supposed to be joining her husband Prince William and her brother-in-law Prince Harry at the event in London, but she dropped out just three days after announcing she was pregnant again.

The brunette beauty will also not be attending the athletics event at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre today (09.11.14) due to the illness.

A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said in a statement last night: ”The Duchess of Cambridge will not attend the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games this evening or the athletics event tomorrow.”

Catherine – formerly known as Kate Middleton – is due to carry out her first official solo overseas tour to Malta from 20 September for two days, but it is not yet known whether she’ll be well enough to do the trip.

The spokesperson added: ”The Duchess’s attendance on the forthcoming visit to Malta will be kept under review and a decision taken closer to the time.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – who already have 14-month-old son Prince George together – announced the news that they’re expecting another child on Monday (08.09.14) when Catherine was forced to cancel her trip to Oxford University due to sickness.

This isn’t the first time the duchess has been struck with morning sickness, known medically as hyperemesis gravidarum, as she suffered the same complication when she was pregnant with George.

However, last time she was hospitalized for the pregnancy symptom, whereas this time she’s being cared for by doctors at Kensington Palace in London.
