Duchess Catherine to welcome Poppy Day supporters

Britain’s Duchess Catherine is to welcome Poppy Day supporters to Kensington Palace next week.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been busy filling up her calendar as she returns to royal duties following the birth of her and Prince William’s first child, Prince George, in July, and she has booked a string of public appearances next week beginning with the ceremony on November 7 as part of the events to mark Remembrance Day.

The duchess – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to her wedding to Prince William in April 2011 – will be joined by her husband to meet staff and volunteers outside their London residence in preparation for the annual Remembrance Day event.

After meeting Poppy Day supporters at Kensington Palace, the couple will attend a traditional Sunday service at the Cenotaph with the rest of the Royal Family before heading off to Cardiff for a rugby match on November 9.

The 31-year-old brunette – who took just four months maternity leave before returning to her hectic life as a full-time royal – will be joining her husband, who is the vice patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, at the Prince William Cup fixture between Wales and South Africa at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

William is known to be a keen sports fan and loves to involve his family in his love of football.

He recently revealed plans to take three-month-old son George to see his favorite team, English Premiership heavyweights Aston Villa, play against Manchester United one day.

In a video message to mark the 150th anniversary of the Football Association – of which he is the President – he said: ”When Villa thrash Man U at Villa Park, my son will be there.”
