Duchess Catherine wanted ambulance with her in Malta

Duchess Catherine wanted an ambulance with her in Malta as she battles severe morning sickness

Britain’s Duchess Catherine was so keen to attend her planned engagement in Malta this weekend she asked for an ambulance to be with her.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been suffering with severe morning sickness since announcing her pregnancy, but she remains committed to fulfilling as many of her Royal duties as possible, like her planned trip to Malta to mark the island’s independence.

Despite her best efforts, it’s transpired not to be possible, with a Royal source telling The Sun newspaper: ”Kate didn’t want to let the Queen down.”

In a statement explaining the absence of the 32-year-old, Kensington Palace said: ”The Duchess of Cambridge will no longer visit Malta this weekend. The Duke of Cambridge [Prince William] will undertake the visit instead.

”Her Royal Highness continues to suffer from the effects of Hyperemesis Gravidarum. The decision not to travel was taken by the Duke and Duchess on the advice of the Duchess’s doctors.”

The statement continued: ”The Duke is honoured to represent Her Majesty The Queen on the visit, which commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malta’s independence.

”The visit itinerary remains unchanged.”
