Duchess of Cambridge boosts sales of Moses baskets

Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge has single-handedly boosted sales of Moses basket after been photographed buying one.

Sales of Moses baskets have soared thanks to Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge.

The 31-year-old royal was spotted buying a £295 basket for her unborn baby at Blue Almond boutique in South Kensington, London, last weekend (27.04.13), causing fellow mothers-to-be to rush out and snap up a cheaper version of the wicker carrier.

Asda supermarket have already reported a 57 per cent increase of Moses baskets, with sales of blue buggies also expected to rise after Catherine revealed she had purchased one.

Claire Smith, Asda Baby and Toddler Club manager, said: ”Shoppers across the UK want to offer their little ones the Royal treatment and the blue buggy reports look set to send the nation into a princely state of excitement ahead of its birth this summertime.”

This is far from the first time the trendsetting royal has managed to affect high street sales. A £38 polka dot Topshop dress sold out within an hour of her stepping out in public last month.

The brunette also nearly made Issa London go bust in 2010 when the fashion brand couldn’t cope with mass demand for her navy blue engagement announcement dress.
