Duran Duran cancel more tour dates

Five more concerts are cut as Simon Le Bon’s throat problems continue.

Duran Duran have cancelled five more European tour dates as lead singer Simon Le Bon continues to have trouble with his voice even after three weeks of rest and treatment.

"This is due to a continuing voice problem that I have been experiencing," the singer apologized on Twitter. "There has been a little improvement to my voice in the last three [weeks]. This I’d put down to the inflammation on my vocal folds clearing up."

Due to the ongoing illness, the band has been forced to cancel its upcoming shows in Paris, Brussels, The Hague, Stockholm and Copenhagen.

"You have no idea how disappointed we all are at the news that we won’t be playing this weekend," said bassist John Taylor. "We have been holding on to that hope while we waited to hear from the doctors. We know what this means to the fans, so many of whom are traveling tremendous distances to see us."

Le Bon also revealed that there may be an underlying issue causing the vocal problems. He was scheduled to undergo an MRI scan today (June 10) to find the cause.
