EasyJet adds routes from Nice and Toulouse

U.K. air carrier continues to expand into France.

U.K.-based air carrier EasyJet is adding two new bases of operation in France, at Nice and Toulouse, reports the Telegraph.

Each airport will gain two new Airbus A319 aircraft next summer, giving EasyJet a total of 24 planes based in France. Currently, the company operates out of Orly, Charles de Gaulle and Lyon airports.

The additional aircraft will allow the carrier to increase its routes out of Nice from 16 to 21, including adding flights to Basel, Switzerland and Brussels, Belgium. Toulouse will gain an additional five routes – including Bordeaux and Nantes in France – for a total of 16.

"France is a strategic market for EasyJet, where the airline – already the country’s second-largest – clearly has room to grow," explained company director Catherine Lynn.

"EasyJet’s commercial performance continues to be robust across our network, with particular strength on city routes used by business and short break leisure travelers. These results demonstrate the success of our strategy and we will continue to build on this trend."
