Eating Nuts is Heart Healthy

Nuts, hazelnuts and pistachios provide beneficial nutrients to the heart.

According to an article published in a bulletin from the Mayo Clinic in the United States, nuts, hazelnuts and pistachios are good for heart health.

This kind of dry fruit has many nutrients that are not only good for the heart, but also help reduce bad cholesterol.  They are rich in unsaturated fats, fatty acid, omega-3 and fibre.

Furthermore, consumption of nuts, hazelnuts and pistachios lowers the risk of developing blood clots and improves the health of the arteries.

However, no scientific study has yet addressed the issue.  Although nutritious, nuts are also high in calories. Experts therefore recommend eating in moderation. Thirty grams of almonds is equal to 169 calories and 15 grams of fat. The other kinds of nuts present comparable quantities equally.

Moreover, it is highly advisable to eat these foods without salt or added fat. It is recommended to eat nuts as a substitute for saturated fats found in meat, eggs and dairy products.
