Eddie Murphy Set for Beverly Hills Cop 4

Eddie Murphy is making a comeback to his role as detective Axel Foley.

Another 80s legacy is coming back to the big screen. After Indiana Jones, comes the fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop, starring Eddie Murphy.

According to Variety, Eddie Murphy himself approached Paramount Studios with the idea of bringing detective Axel Foley, the character that launched the star’s career, back to life.

Brett Ratner (Rush Hour) is in talks for signing on as the director. The project would begin in 2009 with an expected release in 2010.

The first three Beverly Hills Cop flicks, which came out in 1984, 1987 and 1994, earned nearly $715 million at box offices worldwide.
