Eddie Murphy Still Wants to Talk to Animals

Eddie Murphy will once again be surrounded by animals in a new film.

The star will be producing the film The Misadventures of Fluffy, and may also be taking a role in the flick, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly, the film follows the story of a group of talking animals on a trip to New York.  There will be some comedic elements from Trading Places, one of Murphy’s early breakout films.

Hopefully, this project will be a success for Murphy, whose latest flicks, Meet Dave and Imagine That, were commercial failures.  Meet Dave only earned $47.4 million at the box office, but was made for a cost of $60 million.  Imagine That, which was released earlier this year, had a budget of $55 million, but took in only $21.8 million at the box office.

Murphy has, however, had success with talking animals.  His Doctor Doolittle franchise has done well, with total revenues reaching a whopping $465 million to date.

In the meantime, we can hear Murphy’s voice in Shrek Forever After, as the voice of Donkey, opening on May 21, 2010.  He will also be starring in the dramatic comedy, A Thousand Words, which opens on February 11, 2011.
