Elizabeth Banks to star in film?

Elizabeth Banks may play female lead in Welcome to People.

Actress Elizabeth Banks (The Uninvited, Zack and Miri Make a Porno) is in negotiations to join Chris Pine (Star Trek) in the drama Welcome to People, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

The film tells the story of a struggling twenty-something man who returns to home after the death of his estranged record-producer father. His dad’s will stipulates he must deliver $150,000 to a 30-year old alcoholic sister he never knew existed. He keeps the money and makes contact with his kin without revealing his true identity.

The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Alex Kurtzman, who co-wrote the scripts for Star Trek and Transformers, in addition to Welcome to People, with his regular writing partner, Roberto Orci.

Banks, 36, will star alongside Russell Crowe in The Next Three Days which opens November 19. She is currently shooting Man on a Ledge with Sam Worthington and Ed Harris, which will be released in 2012.
