Elton John Celebrates His Birthday
The star was introduced by former American President Bill Clinton at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Elton John, whose real name is Reginald Kenneth Dwight, was performing at the venue for, coincidentally, the 60th time. Elton John told the crowd, "I knew I had done 59 shows at Madison Square Garden and I said the only place I want to be is New York City on my 60th birthday."
Several celebrities were on hand at the event, including Bette Midler, Elizabeth Hurley, Donatella Versace, Pierce Brosnan and Ozzy Osbourne.
Since his first success, Your Song in 1971, Elton John has sold more than 200 million discs around the world.
