Elton John Not Allowed to Adopt
The 62-year-old singer expressed his interest in adopting a 14-month-old Ukrainian boy named Lev, whom he met during a visit to an orphanage.
Unfortunately, Youth and Sports Minister Yuriy Pavlenko revealed that according to Ukrainian law, the age difference between the two adoptive parents and the child must not exceed 45 years, and the parents must be married, reports BBC News.
However, the civil union between John and his partner, David Furnish, is not recognized as a marriage in the Ukraine.
Pavlenko explained, "The law is the same for everybody – for a president, for a minister, for Elton John."
Last Saturday (September 12) during a press conference in the country, John revealed that the young boy had stolen his heart.
