Elvis Costello Teams with T Bone Burnett

Elvis Costello is working on his next album with T Bone Burnett.

After having worked with T Bone Burnett on King of America and Spike, Costello is collaborating again with Burnett on his new album, Secret, Profane & Sugarcane, which will be released on June 2.

Costello is returning to the American roots of acoustic music for the first time since 1986’s King of America.

Produced by T Bone Burnett, Costello recorded the new material during a three-hour session at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studio.

Costello wrote ten of the songs included on the album, while Burnett penned two.  The song I Felt the Chill was co-written by Costello and Loretta Lynn.  The songs Hidden Same and Boom Chicka Boom were originally written by Costello for Johnny Cash.

The album’s vinyl version will include two additional songs.  Concerts to promote the album are expected to take place in June and August.
