Emily Blunt Defends Young Victoria

Actress Emily Blunt thinks that people should focus on the beautiful love story in the film The Young Victoria rather than on historical correctness.

The star recently defended her role as Queen Victoria in the film, which was directed by Quebec filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée.

In Britain, some have criticised the inaccuracy of the historical facts of the film, saying that certain events have been embellished to provide for a more dramatic production.

The film tells of Victoria’s ascension to the throne, and her marriage with Prince Albert.  The Young Victoria has been nominated for the upcoming Golden Globes Awards ceremony.

Blunt, who brings Victoria to life on the silver screen, says that people shouldn’t worry about the historical details. "Watch the History Channel if you want it literal and historically perfect. Over here (in America), people accept it as being a love story, allowing themselves to be swept away by it, rather than getting too caught up in the details," she told the Los Angeles Times.
