Eminem and Elton John on top

The rapper and pop legend land in first place on a list of the most surprising duets.

Entertainment Weekly put together a list of the most surprising duets in music history. Leading the pack is a duet by Eminem and Elton John at the 2001 Grammy Awards.

The duo performed Eminem’s song Stan at a time when the rapper was receiving flak for anti-gay comments. His performance with the openly gay Elton John raised more than a few eyebrows.

Second place on the EW list goes to Run DMC and Aerosmith’s rap-rock rendition of Walk This Way. It was a popular song that got lots of radio play in 1986.

Dusty Springfield’s duet with the Pet Shop Boys rounds out the top three. Their performance of What Have I Done to Deserve This was a hit in 1987.

Other duets to make the list include Bing Crosby and David Bowie (Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy), Nick Cave with Kylie Minogue (Where The Wild Roses Go) and The KLF featuring Tammy Wynette (Justified and Ancient).
