All eyes in the American and Canadian music industries will be turned to Los Angeles next Sunday, September 12. One of the most anticipated award shows of the year, the MTV Video Music Awards, is airing live.
Event organizers announced that one of the most popular artists on the planet will open the show. Eminem will kick things off with a performance at 9pm EST.
The rapper, born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, grew up in poverty in Detroit from the age of 12. He is nominated for eight awards, some in competition against Lady Gaga who received a whopping 13 nominations.
No word on which song Eminem will perform. His song Not Afraid is nominated in two categories while his duet with Rihanna, Love the Way You Lie, is sitting at the top of the charts.
Two hot Canadians at the moment, Drake and Justin Bieber, will also perform on stage at the Nokia Theater during the live broadcast.
