Emma Watson new face of Lancôme

Harry Potter actress signs six-figure deal to become brand ambassador.

Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has signed a six-figure deal to become the new face of upscale French cosmetics company, Lancôme, reports Coco Perez.

Watson, who is currently a creative advisor with eco-friendly UK fashion label People Tree and has just finished a stint modeling for Burberry, will be the newest brand ambassador for the cosmetics company, starring in both print and television ads for the company.

"It’s so exciting, I can’t wait to start shooting," said Watson during the announcement at the Elle Style Awards on Monday (February 14). "Although I don’t wear much make-up I’m a big fan of Lancôme products, especially their mascara."

The advertising campaign will be shot next month by Mario Testino, the photographer responsible for shooting the official royal engagement pictures for Prince William and Kate Middleton. Watson previously worked with Testino during her Burberry campaign.

Only 20 years old, Watson will be one of the youngest spokespersons for the brand, which tends to hire actresses in their 30s, such as previous brand ambassadors Julia Roberts, Uma Thurman and Juliette Binoche.

Lancôme was founded in 1935 by Armand Petitjean, when it launched its first five perfumes at the World’s Fair in Brussels. Since then it has branched out into other beauty products, including make-up and skin care.

Watson rocketed to stardom in 2001, when she was chosen to play one of the lead roles in the Harry Potter franchise. Previous to her breakout role at age 9 as Hermione Granger, the English actress had only acted in school plays.
