Enjoy the Gallic cuisine of ancient city in Burgundy

Archaeological site also home to authentic Gallo-Roman restaurant.

Atop Mont Beuvray in France, archaeologists are unearthing the “lost city” of Bibracte, where Julius Caesar wrote The Conquest of the Gaul, and The Cauldron restaurant is serving up authentic Gallo-Roman food.

Based on ancient recipes, you can sample surprisingly tasty foods, like cabbage roll lentil patties on split pea salad, Gallic ham cooked in hay, sweet and sour blueberries, strained soft white cheese with honey. The ancient recipes are cooked in a cauldron and served at shared tables.

Located in the French region of Saone-et-Loire, the archaeological site of Bibracte is open from mid-March to mid-November. In addition to the archeological site, you can also visit the Celtic Civilization Museum, research center, and The Cauldron restaurant dedicated to discovering the Gallic cuisine of yesteryear.
