Dane will star in the Fox 2000 comedy Marley & Me, an adaptation of the novel by John Grogan. Variety reports that Alan Arkin will also star in the project.
David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada) will direct the film, in which Wilson plays an ambitious reporter who moves to Miami with his wife (Aniston) to work at a newspaper.
Dane will play the best friend to Wilson’s character, who convinces him to buy a puppy for his wife, who desperately wants to have children. The adorable puppy, Marley, quickly turns into a little monster.
Filming of Marley & Me is set to begin in March in Miami. Eric Dane was last seen on the big screen in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand.
