The Scottish actor has decided to forgive director Danny Boyle for a dispute that lasted ten years.
The duo became friends in 1996 during the filming of Trainspotting and Boyle promised McGregor the main role in The Beach, but due to pressure from the studio the role went to Leonardo DiCaprio instead.
During an interview with Playboy magazine, the 38-year-old actor considered this an act of treason and said, "Boyle and his people didn’t treat me very well."
Due to the success of Slumdog Millionaire in 2009, McGregor attempted to contact his old friend. "I haven’t spoken to Danny for years, I’m afraid. But I thought (Slumdog’s Oscar success) was very well deserved; I liked Slumdog very much. I thought it was an excellent film, and it was nice to see him getting all those accolades. It was great," said the star.
