Let’s face it, the Canadiens will have another miserable season in 2023-2024. Maybe not as bad as the last two years, but…
Some fans beg to differ… Twitter account JFresh has published a ranking based on a fan vote, and it looks something like this:

It’s worth noting that the CH is last in its division and penultimate in the NHL. Only the Chicago Blackhawks would do worse…
Teams like the Sharks, Flyers and Coyotes, who are worse than the CH on paper, are nevertheless ahead in the standings. Obviously, we shouldn’t take this ranking for cash, but it proves that field hockey fans aren’t optimistic about the Habs’ chances in 2023-2024.
Last year, JFresh did the same exercise and the fan rankings were simply wrong.
The fan with the best prediction was far from perfect. He was wrong by 9.3 points per team, which is quite considerable.
while i do not personally think that this is what the standings will look like next year, i think it’s worth reminding that your prediction would also be massively wrong.
in 2022-23 the BEST prediction (fan/model/betting odds) was off by 9.3 standings points PER TEAM https://t.co/Jjy8V2Baf5

The Bruins, Blue Jackets, Kraken and Devils gave the fans plenty to cheer about.
As the Twitter account indicates, on average, fans were off by 40 points for the Bruins, 26 for the Devils, 25 for the Jackets and 20 for Seattle, no less…
the average fan was off by 40 points on Boston, 26 on NJ, 25 on CBJ, 20 on SEA.

But in the standings for the 2023-2024 season, there are several interesting facts to analyze. First, the Jets are first in the Central Division and second in the NHL. Are they really? After letting go of Pierre-Luc Dubois and Blake Wheeler (and potentially a few other big names), the team has the confidence of the fans.
According to them, the Oilers would finish first in the NHL and eight points ahead of the defending champions, the Golden Knights, in the Pacific Division. Speaking of Canadian teams, the Flames, who are also in a period of misery, would finish with a record of 98 and make the playoffs. Did I mention that we shouldn’t take this ranking for cash?
Oh, and I forgot, according to loyal fans, the Kings wouldn’t even make the playoffs. In fact, they would finish after the Canucks in the standings, with a total of 86 points. They’d be 11 points away from a place in the sun. I understand that Los Angeles doesn’t have a goalie, but you have to be realistic…
