Fendi launches a children’s line

Fendi signs an agreement to develop its own line of children’s clothing.

Italian luxury brand Fendi has signed an agreement with Simonetta, to create, produce and distribute a line of ready-to-wear clothing for children aged 2 to 12.

Creative direction will be managed by Silvia Venturini Fendi. The clothing line will include girls and boys’ clothing that fits the luxury label’s image.

Fendi’s first collection for this new line will be launched for the Spring/Summer 2011 season. A sneak peek will be introduced during the next Pitti Bimbo in Florence in June.

Fendi chairman and managing director Michael Burke said that the fashion house hopes this new children’s line will be available in some 300 outlets around the world.

This distribution agreement with Simonetta should extend over several years.

Fendi is not the only luxury brand to dive into children’s clothing. Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini announced this week that Gucci plans to launch its own children’s line later this year.
