Ferrari Working on a 4×4

The replacement of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is in the process of being developed in Europe, and it could be receiving a 4-wheeldrive hybrid transmission.

The prancing horse brand could be undergoing the most significant changes in history since the rear-drive Dino 246GT engine first appeared. Ferrari is currently working on a hybrid 4WD.

The gas engine will still distribute power to the rear wheels, but two small electric motors could be added to the front wheels.

Sources from the British site Autocar revealed that these electric motors are not added to lower fuel consumption, but rather to improve acceleration and cornering speeds.

The system would allow power to be sent precisely and independently to each of the front wheels to improve the car’s performance on turns.

The first hybrid Ferraris are not expected to appear before 2014.
