Filming of Tintin Postponed

Shooting of the film adaptation of the adventures of Tintin has been delayed by Universal.

Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, who are going to direct two films of the Tintin trilogy, presented a budget of $130 million to Universal.

Universal declined the amount and asked the two directors to find another source of financing.

Filming was scheduled to begin in October.

In addition, it would seem that the budget is not the only issue of conflict. According to Universal, the share of revenue Spielberg and Jackson were asking for was excessive.

The directors asked for 30% of the gross revenue from the box office, DVD sales and  television and other sales. In order to be profitable, the film must make at least $425 million at the box office.

Tintin is still a long way from hitting the big screen.
