Final Concert for The Police

The Police will be doing one last concert before the band dissolves.

The British group held a press conference yesterday (May 6) announcing that their last concert would take place in New York.  The date of the concert was not announced, but Sting asserted that it would mark the group’s last show together.

Sting also mentioned that the group would be donating $1 million to Mayor Bloomberg’s MillionTreesNYC foundation, which aims to plant trees in the city.

The singer explained, "We have a long history in New York. We came here first in 1978. We want to leave a gift that will last for decades."

In addition to the New York concert, The Police have a busy schedule this summer with more than 50 concert dates in North America and Europe. This reunion tour was launched in 2007, and has been one of the most lucrative with more than $212 million in profits.
