Financial Problems for Spider-Man Musical

Rehearsals for the Spider-Man musical have been halted.

According to the New York Times, production has been suspended on Spider-Man: Turn of the Dark.

The show’s producers announced that financial reasons are behind the decision.  Although the musical is experiencing temporary cash flow problems, activities should be resumed soon, and the show’s opening should not be affected. Tickets will go on sale next month, and performances are expected to begin on February 25, 2010.

The project will feature music from Bono and The Edge of U2.  Evan Rachel Wood will play Mary Jane Watson, and Alan Cumming will play Norman Osborn/Green Goblin.  No other names have been linked to the show.

The musical has a 40-million-dollar budget, making it the most expensive musical in the history of Broadway.
