First Air France/KLM airbus flight to Montreal

Huge double-decker A380 has inaugural commercial flight to Dorval airport.

The first Air France/KLM A380 plane landed yesterday (October 7) at Dorval’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport to mark the 60th anniversary of the French company’s arrival in Montreal.

Air France/KLM took the opportunity to announce the arrival daily airbus flights from Paris to Montreal beginning May 11, 2011.

With the ability to accommodate twice as man passengers, the airline will be able to combine two flights into one, resulting in considerable savings.

The A380 can seat 525 to 853 passengers, depending seating configurations. Aerodynamics and lightweight materials reduce fuel costs by about 20 per cent in proportion to the number of passengers.

Montreal is the fourth destination to merit the Air France/KLM A380, after New York, Johannesburg, and Tokyo.
