No goals were scored in the first period.
In the second, the goals started to be scored.
First, Cole Caufield scored his 29th goal of the season. This is a personal record for him.

Another point for Patrik Laine on the sequence, who has been playing well since the return from the all-star break.
In his last four games, he has six points.
Patrik Laine when he is hot, he is hot: 6 points in his last 4 games.
When he is not, he is not. 8 last games before the break, 0 points.

The Sabres played much better in the third period, but they never had any real chances to thwart Jakub Dobes.
Jake Evans sealed the outcome of the meeting in an empty net. He is one goal and one point away from tying his career highs in both categories.
Jake Evans now has 12 goals and 28 points. He’s one away from tying career highs in each category.

Final score: 4-2 Canadiens, who win a fourth straight game for the first time this season.
And with this victory, Montreal finally gains ground on the last playoff spot, now just three points away.

Overtime
— Too bad for Connor Hughes, but the Rocket still wins.
Jorian Donovan deprives Connor Hughes of a shutout with 4 seconds left. A good shot from the young defenseman. 4-1 final score in favor of the Rocket.

— Will he be traded?
Henri Jokiharju is a scratch for the #LetsGoBuffalo tonight. Not sure if it’s specifically for trade related purposes, but the Sabres are trying to move him.
