Foo Fighters finish recording new album

Release date for rock group’s seventh studio album unknown.

American rock band Foo Fighters have officially finished recording on their newest album, announced frontman Dave Grohl yesterday (January 4) through Twitter.

"Ladies and gentlemen … we are officially done. Champagne, anyone?" Grohl posted along with a photo of the rock group with a bottle of bubbly.

"There’s 11 songs and front to back there’s not one sleepy ballad," Grohl said in an interview with BBC Radio One. The album’s title and spring release date have not yet been revealed.

Also unknown is which is the 11 songs will be chosen as the album’s first single. "It’s hard to choose because it sounds like there’s more than one," the singer explained.

This will be the band’s seventh studio album. Their last album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, released in 2007, won two Grammies and was nominated for three others, including Album of the Year.

Producing the album is Butch Vig, who last worked with Grohl 20 years ago, on Nirvana’s iconic album, Nevermind – back when Grohl played drums for the legendary 1990s grunge band.
